Random acts of kindness. 🌻
➤ homeschooling is an adventure I keep reminding myself. I mean you have to understand that I am one of those highly keen school nerds that LOVED all things school and learning. Now as a homeschooling mom of a child who, let’s just say isn’t quite as keen as I was to learn and do schoolwork is a bit of a challenge for my traditional school mindset. covid has changed lots of things and school is just one for us.
➤ so here I am balancing that fine act of teaching my kid at least something that the regular school system deems to be important (who sets these guidelines anyway?? whoever did for math needs a big talking to) while also taking advantage of this great time to do FUN educational things. Yes, fun! All those homeschooling moms who are years deep and quite expert at deschooling know the importance of this but me…just learning on the fly.
➤ maybe in a hyer-spiritual download moment (DOUBTFUL) or just in my plain old meno-mom-brain I felt impressed today to start doing some FUN random acts of kindness with my boy. This sounds like SOCIAL STUDIES to me…I mean it’s social and it’s studying the effects of our behaviour on society…right, right?!
➤ the more I dig into how others have done this and add our own twists to it, the more excited I get! We all know the old adage that giving is better than receiving and what a thing to impart to the younger generation! I’ve been personally studying the gifts of the Spirit and honestly discovering how much I truly LACK. Here we can see that one of the fruit of the Spirit of God is KINDNESS:
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” – Galatians 5:22-23
➤ homeschooling and want to join us on a journey into BEING kind in a real world way with your kid/s? Some of the resources I’m using:
Have fun and let me know if you do anything with your own homeschool! ❤️📚👩👦
